Longfellow Middle School is a candidate school for the International Baccalaureate (IB) Middle Years Programme (MYP) and is pursuing authorization as an IB World School. The curriculum serves to prepare students seeking enrollment into the International Baccalaureate Institute at Jefferson High School.
IB World Schools share a common philosophy—a commitment to improve the teaching and learning of a
diverse and inclusive community of students by delivering challenging, high quality programmes of
international education that share a powerful vision.
*Only schools authorized by the International Baccalaureate can offer any of its four academic programmes: the Primary Years Programme (PYP), the Middle Years Programme (MYP), the Diploma Programme or the IB Career-related Certificate (IBCC). Candidate status gives no guarantee that authorization will be granted.
At Longfellow Middle School, our students take eight classes a day. All students take four core classes: math, Language and Literature (English Language Arts), science, and Individuals and Societies (Social Studies). All students also take a physical education class, a language acquisition class, a design class, and an arts class. Students in each grade level have several options available to meet the requirements for their physical education, language acquisition, design and arts classes.
