What grade levels are served?
Pre-kindergarten through sixth grade
What are school hours?
The school day starts at 8:00 A.M. and ends at 3:35 P.M.
How early can students be dropped off in the morning?
Students can dropped off as early as 7:15 AM to our cafeteria.
When are students counted tardy?
Students are counted tardy from 8:00 A.M. until 10:00 A.M. Students are counted absent if they arrive after 10:00 A.M.
Is there after school care?
Yes, students in kindergarten through sixth grade may enroll in an after school program. Pre-kindergarten four year olds may enroll in another program. Both programs are free of charge and end at 6:00 P.M. There is currently no program for pre-kindergarten three year olds.
Lamar has an extended year calendar. Where is the calendar posted?
The calendar is posted on our website on the tab titled, “Calendar”. It is also linked here. A hardy copy is available in the main office as well.
What do students do during the breaks?
During our breaks, students may either enroll in a camp that is offered or they may not come to school for that week.
What is the cost for the camps?
The camps cost $50 per student for the week. The school and district is paying for the remaining cost.
What camps are offered?
Camps include the YMCA, Zoo, Doseum, and potentially other depending on the year.
What clubs are offered?
Clubs are offered to all kindergarten through sixth grade students. They include robotics, poetry, yoga, scrabble, lego, garden, and other club options.
When are the clubs offered?
Clubs are offered every Monday and Wednesday from 3:35-4:35.
Is there a charge for the clubs?

Is there a charge for breakfast or lunch?
No. All breakfast and lunch is free. Students may purchase additional items with cash.
Can I eat lunch with my child?
Yes, kindergarten through sixth grade families may eat lunch with their children as often as they wish. Pre-kindergarten students eat family style in their classrooms so families are strongly discouraged from eating with their children.
Can I bring a treat for my child’s birthday to share with the class?
Yes, families are invited to bring store-bought treats to share with the class. Families may get a class head count from the office or your child’s teacher.
What is the dress code?
Students may wear khaki or black bottoms and a white, yellow, or royal blue polo shirt. A school shirt is allowable any day of the week. All Fridays are free dress day for the whole campus. Close-toed shoes are strongly recommended to avoid injuries on the playground and at PE.
How often do students get recess?
Students have 2-3 recesses per day, depending on the grade level. Teachers have discretion to add recess periods if their class needs an exercise break.
Do students have art?
Yes, art instruction and projects are incorporated into all classrooms. An art teacher also spends time working with all students for formal art classes. The Inspire Art Center works with classes as well. Finally, all PK-6 students visit the San Antonio Museum of Art once a year.
