Our mission at Lamar Elementary is to provide an educational program where all school members -- including children, their families, teacher candidates, and educators -- reach their full potential by challenging them intellectually while building the social-emotional and self-advocacy skills needed to continue learning and to sustain our democracy.
The state of Texas lays out a set of knowledge and skills (TEKS) that students are expected to learn in each subject area by grade level. Lamar teachers support students in achieving these learning goals.
As a Choice School in SAISD, Lamar also holds an additional set of foundational goals for students to become informed and engaged citizens. They include curiosity, collaboration, cultural competence, emotional intelligence and advocacy.
