Hello and welcome to Lamar Elementary’s webpage! My name is Brian Sparks, proud principal of Lamar Elementary.
Lamar is a special place for students, families, community and staff. Located just north of downtown San Antonio, Lamar is positioned in the Broadway corridor, close to The Witte Museum, The Botanical Gardens, The Doseum, and many other opportunities for our students and school to learn with and from.
This school year, Lamar is enjoying our first year as a choice school in San Antonio ISD. Our focus is on developing students in the five following areas: Curiosity, Cultural Competence, Collaboration, Emotional Intelligence, and Advocacy. We believe that we are growing the leaders of tomorrow in our school and we feel a great sense of responsibility to help make our world a better place. This means that students in our school will engage in meaningful learning experiences that develop their critical thinking and analytical skills as they become reflective and thoughtful young people.
Whether you are a current or prospective family member, we encourage you to visit our campus and become involved in the learning happening here every day. In the past five years, we have nearly doubled our enrollment, recruited dynamic teachers to our campus, and helped lead the district charge in reframing our district’s instructional vision. I can’t wait to see what we accomplish next!
