Un poco sobre mi: A little bit about myself

I have been teaching for 13 years and I was an Irving Middle School Alumni. I see a lot of myself in these students. I walked the same halls as them and had the same struggles. I will never forget that a dog bit me crossing the street to school and I continued the day without telling anybody. My job is to keep the students safe and learning in a positive environment. I view children as thinkers, and it is important to allow them to be reflecting about their world at home and connect it with their hands on learning exploration. I teach with the concept in mind that purposeful play is when children learn through the process of their efforts. Children gain knowledge by building on a path of prior knowledge and use different languages to add to their repertoire. I encourage my students to make choices and practice individual decision-making while guiding them to build on their knowledge.

Yo he sido maestra por 13 años y yo era alumna en Irving Middle School. Yo me miro en los estudiantes. Yo caminé los mismos pasillos y quizás tuve las mismas batallas que ellos. Nunca me olvidare que cuando cruzaba la calle para la escuela un perro me mordió y yo continue el día sin decirle a nadie. Mi trabajo es mantener a mis estudiantes con salud y que aprendan en un ambiente positivo. Yo miro a los estudiantes como “pensadores”, es importante dejarlos reflexionar sobre su mundo en casa y conectarlo con aprendizaje exploratorio. Enseno con el concepto en mente que el jugar con manipulativos tiene que tener un propósito de aprendizaje. Niños ganan sabiduría al edificar un camino de lo ya aprendido y usan differentes lenguajes para agregar a su repertorio. Animo a los estudiantes a que hagan decisiones individuales y los guio a que edifiquen su educación.
