Hello and Welcome to our classroom page! 

I am Ms. Almaraz and I teach 2nd grade Reading and Math for the Auditory Impaired - RDSPD Program here at Mission Academy.I have been teaching for 16 years. 10 in General Education and 6 in Deaf Education.  

I completed my Bachelors at UCLA in 1998, and immediately began to teach in Los Angeles.  In 2004 I moved back to my hometown, San Antonio.  I was so happy to be teaching back in San Antonio! 

I received my Masters in Deaf Education and Hearing Science from the U.T. Health Science Center School of Medicine in San Antonio, completing my practicum at Sunshine Cottage School for the Deaf. This was an amazing experience!  

Communication is the basis of all learning and I enjoy teaching students to communicate through speech and sign. My goal is for them to be readers and writers, and to help them fulfill their dreams of the future.
