My name is Mrs. Ruiz. This is my 7th year teaching 2nd grade.
I love teaching and I especially love teaching the children at Herff Academy-Go Giraffes!
I was born and raised on the south side of San Antonio in the Harlandale area. That is where I was inspired to be a teacher. I had many strong role models and I wanted to be just like them.
I attended Texas A&M San Antonio and graduated in 2009 with a degree in Interdisciplinary Studies EC-4th.
After graduating, I worked as an Educational Coordinator at Good Samaritan Community Services in the west side of San Antonio. I was fortunate enough to plan educational field trips and activities that tied in with Core Knowledge Curriculum.
In 2012, I started a new chapter and most important one in my life, I began teaching for San Antonio ISD. My first year of teaching I received the Rising Star Award. It was a great honor to receive this award for something that I truly love to do.
My husband and 10-year daughter are great supporters in my drive to help my students reach their greatest potential. If we are not on the soccer fields watching my daughter block goals, we are planning and organizing activities for my students.
I look forward to many more years of teaching the brilliant students at Herff Academy!
