Irina Duran was born in Monterrey, Mexico and was raised in Laredo, TX.  Her love for music came from a lifetime of experiences in the field and has led her to start her 15th year of teaching with SAISD.

She loves every bit of life and the joy of her heart is her family.  Her husband, Roger, is a retired band director and now a full time photographer.  Their three children Jayden, Conner and Caydence are the rhythm to their drums!

Mrs. Duran's first experience with music started with piano lessons at the age of 5.  She later learned how to play the clarinet while in middle school band and continued her music studies through her degree work at Texas State University.  There she learned how to play Mellophone and earned a spot with the Blue Knights Drum and Bugle Corps from Denver, Colorado.  She graduated with a Bachelor of Music Education in 2008 and has enjoyed sharing her passion for music with the community in San Antonio since then.
