Greeting Sam Houston Family,
The 2017-2018 school year will mark my 15th year in education and my 8th year at Sam Houston. This school year I will be teaching English IV (Seniors), AP Literature and Composition, while serving as SHHS’s ELA Department Chair.
Not native to Texas, I spent the first 30 years of my life in the great state of Washington, residing just outside Seattle, WA. I earned my BA from a small liberal arts college outside of Portland, Oregon named Linfield College. Linfield, a NCAA Division III powerhouse, allowed me the opportunity to play football, where I started part of all four seasons, and compete in track and field.
Moving to Texas I was afforded the opportunity to obtain a Masters degree from the University of Texas at San Antonio. Working within the Urban School Leadership cohort, I have a Masters degree in Educational Leadership and Policy Study and am certified as both a 7-12 ELAR Teacher and a a K-12 administrator.
I am married, my wife teaches engineering and robotics at the NEISD Stem Academy Middle School. We have two children, the oldest- my son is named Tysen, and the youngest- my daughter is named Kaleena. Both my children swim competitively, Tysen year round, I often serve as an official for their meets, working towards becoming a USA Swimming Stroke and Turn Official.
