I am excited for the 2020-2021 hybrid school year at Herff Academy.
Teaching your child whether in person or online is a tremendous responsibility and I will do my best to ensure that each student has a safe and motivating learning experience. However, I cannot do this without the help of you, the parents. We are partners in the learning process. I believe that parent-teacher relationships are necessary for every child's maximum school success.
Establishing good classroom discipline is essential to each child’s success, confidence and well-being. Every child should feel that the classroom environment whether in person or online is safe and secure; free from all threats of physical or emotional harm. In addition, it is important that each child learn to develop self-discipline and good work habits, to resolve conflicts peacefully, and to think independently.
I grew up in San Antonio, Texas. Since, I was eight years old, I wanted to be a teacher. My love for teaching and my passion for watching children learn has brought me there to Herff Academy. I attended Ashford University located in Clinton, Iowa. I majored in Elementary Education and Child Development and minored in Psychology and Sociology. Following graduation, I began teaching First-grade here at Herff Academy. I taught first-grade for three years, and this will be my 3rd year teaching third grade. Outside of teaching I enjoy painting, baking, sewing, and I absolutely love the beach.
I encourage you to contact me if you have any questions or concerns at any time. You can call me at the school, send me a remind message, or contact me via email.
Thank you,
Ms. Tracy Gutierrez
