SAN ANTONIO (Sept. 10, 2025) – AVANCE - San Antonio and the San Antonio Independent School District (SAISD) are proud to announce a new partnership to bring AVANCE’s signature Parent-Child Education Program (PCEP) to Highland Hills Elementary and Mission Academy. The responsive, evidence-based two-generation program supports families with young children on their educational journey toward economic mobility. Together, AVANCE and SAISD will expand access to early childhood and family engagement opportunities for SAISD families with children ages 0-4.
Partnership between AVANCE and SAISD brings a proven two-generation model directly onto SAISD campuses.
Forty families will participate in the inaugural launch across the two schools.
Orientation and enrollment will take place in early September, with classes scheduled to begin the week of September 15–19.
The partnership builds on AVANCE’s 50-year history of supporting families and SAISD’s commitment to ensuring every child is school-ready.
“AVANCE is excited to partner with SAISD in this next chapter of family investment. Together, we are building strong foundations so families can grow and remain connected with SAISD for years to come,” said Yesenia Alvarez-Gonzalez, Executive Director of AVANCE – San Antonio.
Through this partnership, families will have access to a bilingual program that offers weekly parenting education classes, early learning activities with their children, and monthly home visits. By joining forces, AVANCE and SAISD are making it possible for families to access resources within their own school communities, strengthening the connection between early childhood development and long-term student success.
“We are thrilled to bring the AVANCE program directly into our schools to support families in the earliest stages of their child’s education,” said Jackie Navar, Assistant Superintendent, SAISD Family and Community Engagement. “This partnership reflects our belief that strong family engagement is essential to student success, starting from birth. Together, we are building a bridge between home and school that will empower families and create brighter futures for our youngest learners.”
By combining AVANCE’s expertise in two-generation programming with SAISD’s deep roots in education, the organizations are working together to build strong foundations for families, children, and the broader San Antonio community.
