March 23, 2026 – The San Antonio ISD Board of Trustees tonight approved two new Senate Bill 1882 partnerships with external educational entities to work with schools within the district. These types of partnerships are made possible through Texas Senate Bill 1882, enacted in 2017, which allows districts to collaborate with qualified organizations to manage school operations under district oversight, while accessing added flexibility and resources to better serve students.
Beginning with the 2026-27 school year, the following partnerships will launch:
Texas A&M San Antonio Institute for School & Community Partnerships will work with the Young Men’s Leadership Academy. This agreement continues through June 30, 2029, with the opportunity to renew the agreement for up to two years at a time.
Third Future Schools will work with Hirsch Elementary, Odgen Elementary, and Tafolla Middle School (which will be combined with Rhodes Middle School). This agreement continues through June 30, 2029, and the agreement may be renewed for an additional term by mutual agreement of both parties. More information is available in this FAQ.
“Across our district, we strategically engage external partners to foster innovation and support school improvement efforts,” said Superintendent Jaime Aquino. “We are committed to working closely with families, educators, and our partners to ensure every child feels supported and challenged to grow.”
SAISD currently has successful 1882 partnerships with the CAST Schools Network, Alamo Colleges, UTSA, and the Texas Council of International Studies.
