Aug. 7, 2026 – As San Antonio ISD prepares to welcome students back for the first day of school on Wednesday, Aug. 12, the district is reminding families and community members about several campus relocations taking effect this school year. These moves reflect important milestones in the district’s ongoing Bond 2020 program, which is delivering modernized learning environments and improved facilities for students across the district.

  • Schenck Elementary School is returning to its original home at 101 Kate Schenck Ave. This marks a long-awaited homecoming for students and staff who temporarily occupied the former Foster Elementary campus while construction was underway on a brand-new, two-story school building on the seven-acre Schenck site.

  • Collins Garden Elementary School students and staff will relocate to the former Storm Elementary School located at 435 Brady Blvd. while their campus undergoes major renovations funded through Bond 2020.

  • Kelly Academy at Lowell has fully consolidated at its campus located at 919 W. Thompson Place. During construction, some primary grade students attended classes across the street. This year, the modernized Lowell campus is ready to welcome all students, from Head Start through eighth grade.

  • Bonham Academy students entering third grade will now attend Bonham Primary at Green, located at 122 W. Whittier St., which will serve students in prekindergarten through third grade. Bonham Academy, located at 925 S. St. Mary’s St., will serve students in grades 4-8.

As students return to campuses across the district, San Antonio ISD reminds motorists and community members to exercise caution around schools. The start of a new school year brings increased traffic, bus activity, and students using crosswalks, particularly during morning drop-off and afternoon pickup times.
