Aug 21 (Fri) – Celebration of bond-funded gyms, fields and weight rooms kicks off introduction to student athletes

Brackenridge High School will be celebrating the completion of Bond 2020 construction with a ribbon-cutting ceremony for. athletic upgrades including all new competition and practice gyms, new baseball and softball fields, along with new weight rooms and locker rooms. The ribbon-cutting ceremony coincides with the annual “Meet the Eagles” night, where the Brackenridge community gets to know the teams and student-athletes that will be competing in fall sporting events.
Aug 25 (Tues) – Pre-kindergarten students introduced to mud kitchens in new outdoor learning space

The SAISD Foundation is hosting a ribbon-cutting ceremony at Green Elementary at Riverside Park to celebrate the installation of new, dynamic outdoor learning environments designed specifically for young learners. Water and nature play, musical equipment, plus mud kitchens will transform outdoor areas into active spaces for creative, social-emotional, and gross motor skill development for Pre-K through 2nd grade students.
Funded through a grant from the Najim Family Foundation, the project brings specialized outdoor equipment to three SAISD campuses: Beacon Hill Elementary, Franklin Elementary, and Green at Riverside Park Elementary.
Aug 27 (Thurs) – Burbank/MacArthur “Twin Brothers Bowl” kicks off HS Football season
7 p.m., Alamo Stadium, 110 Tuleta Drive, 78212
The 2026 high school football season kicks off with a special family rivalry taking place at the MacArthur vs. Burbank game in Alamo Stadium. Burbank head coach Mitchell Ricker and MacArthur head coach Jordan Ricker are twin brothers. This will be the first time the siblings face off against each other as head coaches. The Ricker parents will spend one half of the game on one side of the field and switch to the other side in the second half. The twins’ mother plans to get a jersey made that is one half Burbank and the other half MacArthur.
