Dear Hot Wells Families,

We had a strong start to the school year, and I want to share a few important updates and reminders for this week:

Safety: Extra patrols are in place near our school. Please remind your child to walk in groups, stay alert, and report anything suspicious.
Upcoming Events:
- PTA Back-to-School Dance – Thursday, Aug. 28 | 5:30–7:00 PM | Cafeteria ($3 pre-sale / $4 at the door). Parents, please arrive by 6:50 PM for pickup.
- 8th Grade Basketball – Friday, Aug. 29 at 6:15 PM
- 7th Grade Girls Basketball – Saturday, Aug. 30 at YMLA, 1:30 PM
- 7th & 8th Grade Boys Football Scrimmage – Saturday, Aug. 30 at Whittier MS
Attendance: Attendance is taken every class period. Please avoid early pickups. Friday’s attendance was 86%—let’s aim higher! Students with 100% attendance this week will be entered in Friday’s raffle.
Looking Ahead:
- Monday, Sept. 1 – Labor Day Holiday (No School)
- Sept. 3–4 – i Ready Testing (Reading & Math). Attendance is critical for accurate data.

Seguridad: Hay patrullas adicionales alrededor de nuestra escuela. Por favor recuerde a su hijo(a) caminar en grupos, estar alerta y reportar cualquier cosa sospechosa.
Próximos eventos:
- Baile de Regreso a Clases de la PTA – Jueves 28 de agosto | 5:30–7:00 PM | Cafetería ($3 preventa / $4 en la puerta). Pedimos a los padres llegar a las 6:50 PM para recoger a sus hijos.
- Baloncesto de 8.º grado – Viernes 29 de agosto a las 6:15 PM
- Baloncesto de niñas de 7.º grado – Sábado 30 de agosto en YMLA, 1:30 PM
- Partido de práctica de fútbol de niños de 7.º y 8.º grado – Sábado 30 de agosto en Whittier MS
Asistencia: La asistencia se toma en cada clase en secundaria. Evite recoger a su hijo(a) temprano. La asistencia del viernes fue de 86%—¡necesitamos mejorar! Los estudiantes con 100% de asistencia esta semana participarán en una rifa el viernes.
Fechas próximas:
- Lunes 1 de septiembre – Día del Trabajo (No hay clases)
- 3–4 de septiembre – Exámenes iReady (Lectura y Matemáticas). La asistencia es crítica para obtener datos precisos.

Important Reminders for the First Day of School:
Doors Open: 7:55 AM – No supervision is available before this time.
Instruction Begins: 8:30 AM
Dismissal: 3:45 PM
Cell Phone Policy – House Bill 1481:
In accordance with House Bill 1481, all K–12 students are prohibited from using personal communication devices during the school day. Devices must remain powered off and out of sight from arrival until dismissal.
Traffic & Safety:
We are aware that construction has been ongoing around the school. We have been notified that Russi Street will reopen by Wednesday morning. Please follow the dismissal route map:
Use the roundabout for pick-up and drop-off.
Do not stop in the street or allow students to run across traffic.
Morning drop-off is at the roundabout by the main office.
Transportation:
We are attaching the 2025–2026 Bus Route Schedule for your convenience. Please review it carefully to ensure your child knows their route before the first day of school.

Afterschool Program – Challenge Program:
We are also attaching Challenge Program registration information. Representatives will be on campus in the cafeteria August 13th & 14th from 3:30–5:30 PM to assist with registrations.

Reminder: We must have 25 students fully registered in order to begin the program.

Tráfico y Seguridad:
Sabemos que ha habido construcción alrededor de la escuela. Nos han informado que Russi Street estará abierta el miércoles por la mañana. Por favor, siga el mapa de la ruta de salida:
Use la glorieta para dejar y recoger estudiantes.
No se detenga en la calle ni permita que los estudiantes crucen corriendo el tráfico.
Por la mañana, deje a los estudiantes en la glorieta junto a la oficina principal.
Transporte:
Adjuntamos el Horario de Rutas de Autobuses 2025–2026 para su conveniencia. Revíselo con su hijo(a) para que sepa su ruta antes del primer día de clases.
Programa Después de Escuela – Challenge Program:
También adjuntamos la información de inscripción para el Challenge Program. Representantes estarán en la cafetería el 13 y 14 de agosto de 3:30–5:30 PM para ayudar con las inscripciones.
