San Antonio College is one of our Institute of Higher Education (IHE) Partners for our Dual Credit Students at Fox Tech High School. Additionally SAC serves as our main IHE partner for the H-TECH Program. It is part of the Alamo Colleges District and the oldest public two-year college in Texas.

With SAC, our Law, Medical, and H-TECH students are able to take advantage of their supports and resources they give to all college students. Awarded the Aspen Prize for Best Community College in the United States in 2021, SAC offeres an array of tutoring, labs, and outreach for all who are in enrolled.

Most SAC courses are offered at the Fox Tech Campus with professors coming to teach in our rooms and facilities. This allows are students to take a variety of courses such as:

  • Art Appreciation
  • Interpersonal Communications
  • US History
  • Ethics
  • Psychology
  • English
  • British Literature
  • Spanish

Some Dual Credit Science courses are taught at the SAC Campus because of lab facility requirements that are needed for the courses.

By enrolling in a Dual Credit class with SAC, students are saving on average $327- $436 per course! If your student is enrolled in the H-TECH Pathway, that is over $20,000 that is saved to the family and the student!

Fox Tech High School is proud to partner with the University of Texas at San Antonio for Dual Credit courses offered to both our Law and Medical students. UTSA provides our Dual Credit students with access to the tutoring and library resources, as well as technology if needed.

Our classes with UTSA our taught at the Main Campus and Downtown Campus, with an SAISD staff member accompanying our students. Transportation is provided in most cases for the courses. Our UTSA professors are supportive of our students as they learn the ins and out of the American Goverment and Judicial System.

UTSA Courses primarily cover the Humanities subject areas and support our Law Magnet students in their pathway. Courses include:

  • Critical Thinking
  • Mexican American Studies
  • Civil Rights in America
  • Economics
  • Political Theory

Fox Tech also offers Dual Enrollment Courses to our students through the OnRamps Program with The University of Texas at Austin. Dual Enrollment courses are taught by a Fox Tech Teacher in the course subject area, with a UT professor serving as a proctor who sets up the course sequence and assignments.

Dual Enrollment classes will have students earn a grade for both High School and College separately. That means a student can pass the High School side but not the College side. The great news is that with the support of our amazing teachers, our students can take advantage of the tutorials and supports on our campus.

Before a student is enrolled in a Dual Credit Course, they must complete a few steps.

  • Students must take the TSIA2 (Texas Success Initiative Assessment) Exam for English and Math.
  • Depending on the course Students must PASS one or both exams.
  • Students must complete the ApplyTexas Application.
  • Students must complete all enrollment steps for their IHE college.
  • Most of our students are on a pathway that will allow them to take their courses during a specific semester, though once eligible, a guidance counselor will help them on their choice slip.

All students are expected to pass the TSIA 2.0 exam to be College Ready BEFORE Graduation

TSIA 2 ELAR (Multiple Choice and Essay)

  • Passing Score is a 945 or Higher on the MC
