Dr. Maricela Alarcón
Dr. Maricela Alarcón joined CAST Med High School & CAST Imagine Middle School in 2024, following 2 years of service at the Advanced Learning Academy Tech Campus Grades 4-12 within SAISD where she served one year as the campus program/partnership coordinator and most recently associate principal. Her career as an educator began in the Northside Independent School District where she served six years as a school principal, three years as assistant principal, one year as an academic specialist, and seven years as a 4th and 5th grade bilingual teacher.
Dr. Alarcón was born and raised in San Antonio, Texas and is a proud product of SAISD. She attended Briscoe Elementary School, Harris Middle School, and graduated from Brackenridge High School. She received her undergraduate degree from Rice University earning her bachelor's degree in Psychology and Sociology. She went on to earn her master’s degree in Bilingual Education at Our Lady of the Lake University. Ultimately earning her doctorates degree in Educational Leadership from the University of Texas at San Antonio.
She wholeheartedly believes authentic learning is the vehicle towards equity in education. All students should be afforded the opportunity to lead, learn, create, collaborate, communicate, innovate, think critically, be a solution finder, and be a model of great character. No matter the person’s background, a high-quality education can help equalize differences among people.
During her free time, Dr. Alarcón loves traveling and learning about new places and people in the world.

La Dra. Maricela Alarcón se incorporó a CAST Med High School y CAST Imagine Middle School en 2024, después de 2 años de servicio en el Campus de Advanced Learning Academy Tech de SAISD, donde sirvió un año como coordinadora del programa del campus / asociación y más recientemente como directora asociada. Su carrera como educadora comenzó en el Distrito Escolar Independiente de Northside, donde trabajó seis años como directora de escuela, tres años como subdirectora, un año como especialista académica y siete años como maestra bilingüe de 4º y 5º grado.
El Dra. Alarcón nació y creció en San Antonio, Texas y es una orgullosa graduada de SAISD. Asistió a Briscoe Elementary School, Harris Middle School y se graduó en Brackenridge High School. Se licenció en Psicología y Sociología por la Rice University. Posteriormente obtuvo su maestría en Educación Bilingüe en la Our Lady of the Lake University. Finalmente obtuvo su doctorado en Liderazgo Educativo por la University of Texas at San Antonio.
