Principal Information
Jackie Ibarra-Lanford
I am honored to have served the San Antonio Independent School District community for 31 years. I began my journey as a classroom teacher at Highland Hills and Foster Elementary. I transitioned to the position of Instructional Guide (Coach) at Foster and Green Elementary Schools. I was then appointed as the Assistant Principal at Highland Park. From there, I had the fortunate pleasure to circle back as the Principal at Foster before moving on to lead Storm Elementary.
I am currently the proud Principal at Barkley-Ruiz Elementary where I have served for seven years. We are an Internal Charter School which supports our scholars through the Constructivism model, where students gain understanding through hands-on Project Based Learning experiences. I have a love for working with children and enjoy coaching teachers through data driven instructional practices.
During my tenure as teacher, instructional coach and campus administrator, I had the opportunity to be a part of the planning phase and implementation of innovative initiatives. Some of them were: Modern Red Schoolhouse, Harvard Leadership: An Evolving Vision, Change Leadership, A Practical Guide to Transforming Our Schools, Texas Reading Initiative, Texas State Literacy Plan and most recently the Texas Reading Academy.
As the proud parent of a recent San Antonio ISD graduate, I look forward to continuing to serve the children of the SAISD community.
