Dear Wilson Bears,
My name is Dr. Jennifer Zavala and I am honored to serve as the principal of Woodrow Wilson
Elementary for a third year. My mission and passion as a principal is to work alongside parents and teachers to create a safe environment where we foster creativity, critical thinking, and a love of learning in all students. I truly believe our students deserve the best education we have to offer, so I am committed to working toward another successful school year with our remote and in-person learning.
At Wilson we value our community and appreciate the trust you place on us with your child’s education. Safety is our number one priority, so we are creating plans that implement social distancing, handwashing, and deep cleaning of our entire campus. Our teachers and staff are committed to providing students with meaningful and culturally relevant learning experiences both virtually and in person that ignite a passion for learning. Along with high quality instruction, it is our goal to make our students feel loved because Wilson Bears are family.
Our first day of school is August 17, 2020 with all students engaged with daily remote learning for three weeks. Details regarding the first day of school and online platforms will be shared with parents soon. In-person instruction will begin September 8, 2020 for families that chose that option on the declaration survey. To access the declaration survey, click here. If you need assistance or have questions, feel free to call the front office at 210-738-9845. Daily attendance and participation during both remote and in-person instruction is vital to the continued success of your child.
Thank you for choosing Wilson. I look forward to meeting you and discussing how the Wilson family can make your child’s learning experience safe and rewarding.
Thank you,
Jennifer Zavala
