Mrs. Perez was born and raised in San Antonio. She earned a BA in English and a BA in Philosophy at the University of San Antonio. She earned her MFA in Creative Writing at the University of Massachusetts, Boston. She has taught a variety of subjects and grade levels, including college courses in writing and literature, therapeutic creative writing for veterans, community writing courses and poetry workshops for Gemini Ink, early childhood education, and grades 3-5. She is a published poet and has served as a scholarship judge for the Alamo Colleges Foundation. This year at Burbank High School, she will be teaching IB Language and Literature (Year 2), Theory of Knowledge (Years 1-2), and College Prep.
