Howdy Burbank Community!

I’m Coach Almaraz, but you can call me Coach A. It’s a true joy to be your GEC teacher here at Burbank High School and to also coach Football and Softball. I am honored to be part of a dedicated Burbank Staff that is committed to fostering every student’s success. We aim to create an inclusive environment where every learner gets the personalized support they need to thrive. If you have any questions or need more information about how we support our students, please don’t hesitate to reach out. Together, we’re ensuring that every child has the chance to shine.

I began my journey with SAISD in 2012 at Burbank, and it has been a rewarding path of growth and learning. After a period with the Harlandale District, I returned to SAISD in the fall of 2020 and rejoined the Burbank team in the fall of 2021. I truly feel at home here and am committed to staying with this wonderful community.

With 15 years in education, I’ve had the pleasure of working with amazing students, and I’m thrilled to bring that experience to our exceptional school. My goal is to inspire and empower students to work hard, stay dedicated, and always strive for improvement. I often remind my students that they are the stewards of their last name—making it meaningful and valuable is up to them. Success is not determined by the past or the future, but by the choices we make today.

At Burbank, we are fortunate to have a team of dedicated educators who are passionate about helping every student succeed. I want my students to feel supported and valued, knowing that we are all here to help them grow and reach their fullest potential.

Outside of school, I enjoy spending time with my family at the Frio River or the beach, dancing, savoring delicious pizza from Dough Pizzeria, and visiting Kyle Field in College Station, where I played college football at Texas A&M University. These activities remind me of the importance of balance and joy in life.

I became a teacher to give back, just as my teachers did for me. Watching students build confidence and achieve their goals is what motivates me. I am deeply invested in your child’s education and development, and I want them to feel that having me as a support is like having an extra, reliable part of themselves—always here to help them thrive.

Parents, please feel free to email me at malmaraz2@saisd.net with any questions or concerns about your child’s grades or behavior. I am eager to work with you to create the best possible learning experience for your student and to inspire hope for a bright and successful future. Together, we can support your child's growth and achievement every step of the way.

Let’s make this year amazing together!

Warm regards,

Coach Almaraz
