Dear Cooper Academy at Navarro Familia,
In light of recent safety concerns and our ongoing commitment to ensuring the security and well-being of our students and staff, we are implementing a new policy regarding student backpacks. Effective September 16, 2024, all students are required to use clear or mesh backpacks when bringing their personal belongings to campus.
This measure is being introduced as a proactive step to enhance the safety of everyone on campus. Clear and mesh backpacks will allow for better visibility, ensuring that no prohibited items are brought onto school grounds. Our priority is to maintain a safe learning environment, and we believe this policy will aid in that effort.
Details of the new backpack policy:
- Approved backpacks: Clear plastic or mesh material only.
- Not permitted: Opaque backpacks with solid pockets, or any material that obstructs visibility.
- This policy applies to all students, across all grade levels, effective September 16, 2024.
- Students are still allowed to bring small pouches or personal items for privacy, but these should remain inside the backpack.
We understand that this change may require adjustments for your family, and we appreciate your understanding and cooperation. We recommend purchasing approved backpacks from local retailers or online suppliers as soon as possible to ensure compliance.
If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact the school office at (210) 438-6810. We will also conduct a parent engagement event on September 14, 2024 to address any questions or concerns you may have.
Thank you for your partnership in maintaining a safe and secure school environment.
Very respectfully,
Ruperto Becerra Jr.
Principal
