Christopher J. Reese is the Theatre Director and a Graduation Coach at Sam Houston High School. As an actor, he has been featured in the musicals A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, The Threepenny Opera, and Sweeney Todd. He has also appeared in the plays 2 Soldiers, Lobby Hero, A Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, The Cherry Orchard, The Lilies of the Field, The Pain and the Itch, Othello, The Piano Lesson, Unheard Voices: The Slave Narratives, David’s Mother, The Devil and Daniel Webster, The Freeway, The Oresteia and others. An alumnus of SAISD, he attended Pershing and Douglas Elementary Schools, Poe Middle School and graduated from Highlands High School. He is a US Army veteran having served during Operation Desert Storm. He received his Bachelor of Arts degrees in both Theatre and Communication Studies from Texas State University where he was the recipient of various awards for acting and Public Speaking. A member of the M.F.A. Acting program at The University of Texas at Austin, he received his Master’s degree in 2013 where he was a Virginia L. Murchison Regents Fellow. He has been awarded the Sam Houston High School Core Values Teaching Award for Passion and is a recipient of the SAISD 2019 Star Educator Award.
