I teach because . . .
As a high school I wanted to become President of the United States to stand up
for families marred by systemic poverty and to ensure that underserved communities would not
be mistreated for profit. As an adult, I realized that the president has
limited power to affect change for families at that level. I came to believe
that education is the best means to position families and communities with
information and expanded opportunities.
