Biography
Jose Ramirez was born and raised in the border town of Brownsville, TX. Currently, he resides in San Marcos, Texas where he completed his B.M. in Music Studies from Texas State University with a K-12 certification and a focus on percussion studies. During his time at Texas State, Jose was a member of the Texas State Orchestra who performed at TMEA 2019, as well as a student conductor in the 2020 Concert Band program.
Prior to this, Jose has worked at various schools in Austin, San Antonio, Houston, and New Braunfels areas as a marching percussion specialist. Additionally, he has experience creating and teaching choreography in the indoor percussion space.
As of 2021, Jose was invited to speak by Mrs. Jessica Robinson of the Texas State Curriculum and Instruction faculty at a 2021 panel for future educators. Here, he found out he had also been named a recipient of the 2021 Outstanding Collegiate Educators award by the Texas Music Educators Association.
