Hello Cyberdawgs!!  We completed the first half of the 2022-2023 school year.  The computer lab is working great and each of you have an opportunity to pursue your CTE credits in the Cybersecurity pathway.

about the instructor...

Hello! My name is Pete Barcenez, I have been in education for over 23 years now.  I have taught many CTE courses in Information Technology along with many software applications. 

  • This will be my 5th year at Luther Burbank High School. 
  • I am a graduate of McCollum HS, here in San Antonio, TX. 
  • I received my Bachelors Degree from Texas A&M University in College Station.
  • I received my Masters Degree from Houston Baptist University.
  • I've been married for 20 years and have 3 beautiful children.

Networking Students

This year will be meeting face to face. Your curriculum will be posted and accessed from a few different sites.  The main site is TESTOUT.COM Other sites are  COMPTIA.ORG  You will be given login information in class. 

You will be preparing for and attempting to qualify to take the CompTIA IT Fundamentals certification exam. This is the first certification offered in this pathway.  All fees and payments will be provided by the CTE department.  This is a tremendous benefit to students and their families. 

We will also use Zoom meetings in class to share documents and presentations. The Zoom link is in your CANVAS homepage. 

Tutoring is on Mondays and Wednesdays from 2:35 pm - 3:10 pm.  And, I will be sending text message reminders using the remind app, directly to your cell phone.   

     
 

AP Computer Science Principles

This year will be meeting face to face. Your curriculum will be posted and accessed from a few different sites.  The main site is PROJECTSTEM.ORG.  Other sites are  CODE.ORG, CMU.CSACADEMY.COM, COLLEGEBOARD.ORG AND NMSI.ORG.  You will be given login information in class. 

We will also use Zoom meetings in class to share documents and presentations. The Zoom link is in your CANVAS homepage.

Practicum in IT

This is a 4th year course in IT for Seniors. The practicum class will be a combination of programming study along with certification tracks in Networking.   The students will study the Python programming language.

This year the IT Practicum will be a 2 period block between 1st and 2nd periods. Your curriculum will be posted and accessed from a few different sites.  The main site is TESTOUT.COM Other sites are  COMPTIA.ORG  You will be given login information in class.
