2024 - 2025 Dress Code Policy
School Philosophy on Student Attire
The design commitments of CAST Tech have an emphasis on authenticity, individuality, as well as personal and social awareness. To that end, we want to develop students’ capacity to make wise choices. While we adhere to uniform guidelines, we did create a space where students have some choice for self-expression.
Our school’s focus is on learning and part of the learning process is the need to understand social/cultural norms and frameworks for presenting oneself in a successful way depending on the context. At all times, modesty is key.
The student and parent may determine the student’s personal dress and grooming standards, provided that they comply with Principles 1, 2, 3 and 4 as outlined below.
Dress Code Principles
|
Principle 1
|
Certain body parts must be covered for all students at all times. Clothes must be worn in a way such that the chest and abdomen, genitals, and buttocks are fully covered with opaque fabric.
|
Principle 2
|
Students Must Wear (while following Principle 1 above):
- A shirt, with fabric that touches the waistband in the front, back, and on the sides under the arms, no tank tops. Undergarments must be covered.
- Pants/jeans or the equivalent (skirt, sweat-pants, leggings, a dress, shorts), no shorter than finger-tip length and free of rips that expose skin or undergarments above the finger-tip line.
- Shoes
|
Principle 3
|
Students May Wear, as long as these items do not violate Principle 1 or 2 above:
- Sweatshirts and hoodies; hoodies/hats are not to be worn in the building
- Fitted pants, opaque leggings, yoga style pants and “skinny jeans,”
- Ripped jeans, as long as undergarments and buttocks are not exposed
- Athletic attire
|
Principle 4
|
Students Cannot Wear: Images or language depicting drugs or alcohol (or any illegal item or activity) or any other substance prohibited under FNCF(LEGAL):
- Hate speech, Profanity, Pornography,
- Images or language that creates a hostile or intimidating environment based on any protected class or consistently marginalized groups,
- Violent language or images,
- Any clothing that reveals visible undergarments,
- Swimsuits (except as required in class, field trips or athletic practice),
- Accessories that could be considered dangerous or could be used as a weapon, and/or
- Any item that obscures the face or ears (except as a religious observance).

Note: There will be times students are expected to dress “business professional” due to an industry event, guest speaker, or other specialized event. This is part of our curriculum as students learn to dress according to industry standards.
