2016 Bond School
Welcome to the 2018-2019 school year! My name is Sharene Dixon. I am honored and privileged to serve as the new principal of SJ Davis Middle School.
During my 20 years in education, I have served in many capacities including English Teacher, Curriculum Writer, Instructional Coach, Director of Educator Effectiveness, Assistant Principal and Sam Houston Associate Principal. I earned an undergraduate degree in Secondary English Education and a graduate degree in Curriculum Instruction Design, with certifications in Education Administration. Originally a native of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania via Maryland, my family and I moved here to San Antonio 11 years ago. As the saying goes, “I am not a native of Texas, but I got here as fast as I could”
The Davis MIGHTY COUGAR community is looking forward to an amazing school year of academic and personal growth, challenges and accomplishments! Our staff of over 70 teachers, paraprofessionals, custodians, food service workers, and administrative staff are all working with students and parents to achieve high academic and social standards while developing personal and community responsibility. We will make each day a positive experience at S.J Davis Middle School through rigorous instruction that meets the needs of every student.
Personal, academic and social growth during the middle school years will prepare our students for high school and beyond. Our learning approach is to provide a balance instructional program of data driven instruction, STEM and Project Based Learning with academic integrity.
Again, I am extremely excited to begin this new chapter in my career at Davis Middle School, I look forward to building new relationships with staff, students, families and community members. My goal as the new principal of S.J Davis is to guide and support our staff and students to reach their highest potentials in a safe and nurturing environment. I firmly believe that education changes generations. As Cougars, we will grow our students to be prepared for high school and beyond.
Please feel free to stop in and introduce yourself or contact me via email email@example.com Together we make the difference!
GO MIGHTY COUGARS!!!
My name is Brittany Martinez and I am excited to be a part
of the Davis Middle School Cougar family! Having served at many different
middle school campuses, I look forward to working with such talented educators
and students at Davis. During my time in
SAISD I have also been a middle school English teacher where I learned a great
deal about establishing a purpose for students in the classroom while
maintaining engagement and student centered instruction. More recently I have
been an English Language Arts and Reading Instructional Coach and a cross
content Instructional Coach. I am looking forward to this year at Davis and
preparing our students for success beyond the classroom.
This year I will serve as the 6th and 7th
grade administrator and primarily focus on the English Language Arts and Social
Studies classroom instruction.
My name is Kaye A.
Robinson and I am honored to serve as the Assistant Principal of Davis Middle
School. I am a native of San Antonio and
I am excited to have the opportunity to work in one of the proudest and richly
historic communities in the city. In my
12 years in education, I have served in many capacities. I began as a Teacher, leading students to
discover their potential through achievement in Math and Engineering-focused
Career and Technology courses. I have
served in the roles of department chair, instructional coach, and assistant
principal before coming to Davis Middle School.
In fact, much of my experience and most of my best memories as an
educator were made at Sam Houston High School.
I am thrilled to be able to return to this vibrant, passionate community
to work with the teachers, parents, alumni, and most of all, the talented
students of Davis Middle School.
Before becoming an educator, I worked as an engineer, with
experiences ranging from the conceptual design of pre-built refineries to the
operation of chemical manufacturing facilities. Though not nearly as rewarding
as working with students, the experience taught me the skill of being able to
turn an idea into a plan, and the persistence to follow the plan every step of
the way until it was complete. My
promise to the students of Davis Middle School is to use this ability to foster
and support their academic and social-emotional growth as lifelong learners,
from middle school to and through graduation.
While my duties involve supporting all campus efforts, my
primary responsibilities will focus on Math and Science instruction, as well as
Seventh and Eighth grade student support.
I am looking forward to seeing the students of Davis Middle School excel
and to celebrating their many successes.
