Dear Mighty Cougar Families,
On behalf of the staff at S.J. Davis Middle School, I am happy to welcome you to the 2017-2018 school year! My name is Rashad Ray, and I am very excited to introduce myself as the new principal of S.J. Davis Middle School. I am honored to be a part of the San Antonio Independent School District, which is known far and wide for its dedication to excellence, but more importantly, to children. I have worked in many different positions prior to becoming an administrator, but I consider my most important job to be that of a child advocate. I will encourage our students daily. I will let them know that they are valued and have a special place in our school community.
We are proud of the excellent achievement of our students, our talented and caring staff, and the outstanding support that our school receives from our community and families. We are looking forward to a productive partnership with you to ensure our children can achieve to their highest potential. We recognize that in order to be successful in school, our children need support from both home and school. We know that a strong partnership with you will make a great difference in your child’s education. As partners, we share the responsibility for our children’s success.
I am honored and deeply committed to making a positive difference in the lives of our children. We will accomplish this by setting high academic expectations. Supportive systems will be provided to ensure that academic expectations are met. Increased academic expectations, teacher performance, school culture, setting high standards, and parental involvement are all areas that ensure preparation for career and college readiness for our students. Not only am I excited to begin working with our children, but I look forward to the work we will do together. My goal is to ensure that all children are healthy, happy and safe, so they may learn as much as they can.
I am pleased to share some of the outstanding initiatives and programs that are available at S.J. Davis Middle School as well. S.J. Davis will have a variety of academic offerings including the “Master Teacher” initiative. “Master Teachers” will be ready to discuss and share information with you throughout the school year. They will also be available to answer any questions that you may have. There will be an extended pathway program available for our students to attend during the hours of 4:15- 5:30 to utilize district resources to focus on the educational needs of our students.
We embrace the challenges of what is to come, however we will continue to cherish and celebrate the traditions of the past. I feel privileged to be a part of this school family. I am looking forward to an academically successful school year. If you would like to contact me, my email address is firstname.lastname@example.org.You may also reach me by phone at S.J. Davis Middle School at (210)978-7920. Thank you for your support, and I look forward to meeting you soon.
Wishing you well,
Rashad Ray, Principal
