International Baccalaureate

Briscoe Elementary is an authorized IB World School implementing the Primary Years Programme. IB World Schools are schools that share a common commitment to a high quality, challenging, international education. At Briscoe Elementary, we commit to the development of internationally-minded learners by meeting the diverse needs of our learning community. We accomplish this through a rigorous, nurturing learning environment, high-quality instruction, and individual support that enable all students to reach their full potential.

IB Mission Statement
The International Baccalaureate aims to develop inquiring, knowledgeable and caring young people who help to
create a better and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect.

To this end the organization works with schools, governments and international organizations to develop challenging programmes of international education and rigorous assessment.

These programmes encourage students across the world to become active, compassionate and lifelong learners who understand that other people, with their differences, can also be right.

On behalf of the staff at Briscoe Elementary, we are happy to welcome you to the 2022-2023 school year! I want to take this opportunity to introduce myself. I am excited to be the Head of School for Briscoe Elementary, IB World School. I served as the Assistant Principal at Briscoe for two years. In those two years, I focused on developing relationships with our students, parents,  community members, and staff. As the Head of School, I am committed to nurturing our campus learning environment and growing rigorous quality education. I am honored to continue serving our Briscoe IB community.

I have always held Briscoe Elementary very near and dear to my heart. The start of my teaching career began at Briscoe. Fifteen years ago, I was a student teacher at Briscoe, and now, I feel like I have come full circle. Over the last fifteen years, I have taught at Woodlawn Academy and Pershing Elementary.

When I am not at school, I enjoy spending time with husband Joseph. I am the proud mother of two children, Elizabeth and Matthew. I also have four wonderful grandchildren: Jacob, Emma, Charlotte, and Kai. I enjoy reading, going for walks with my family, and crocheting.

My intentions for this school year are to ensure that everything we do at Briscoe supports students, families, and the community. We are building a community of leaders, and in doing so, we hope to empower our students to take action and become responsible global citizens.

I look forward to working with all of our students, families, community, and staff. Together, we will make an IMPACT! Please feel free to reach out to me at any time.

Sincerely,

Jennifer Emerson
