5 Tips for Teaching Online Classrooms

  1. Open each lesson with a routine:
    • Greeting
    • Hello song
    • Music
    • Question of the day

  2. State your CHAMPS
    • This is new to students.Guide them along.
    • This is new to us.It’s helpful to stop and think about what we expect.

  3. Teach your lesson with tools you used during face to face instruction
    • Verbal praise
    • Check for understanding
    • Class Dojo points
    • “I do. We do. You do.”

  4. Close with a routine each day.
    • Goodbye
    • Tip of the day
    • Familiar song

  5. Embrace your inner Mr. Rogers….or other favorite childhood TV host! Have fun!

Hugo SaucedoWelcome Franklin Falcon’s!  My name is Dr. Hugo Saucedo, and I am proud to serve as your Principal at Franklin Elementary.  As we move into a new school year I know that we are all anxious to begin another chapter in the storied history of this campus.  It is my great honor and responsibility to ensure that our children receive the highest quality education possible.  As for my personal educational history, I am a graduate of Thomas Jefferson High School and I hold a number of degrees including a BA in History, a MA in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies and an EdD in Educational Leadership all from the University of Texas at San Antonio.  In almost two decades with SAISD I have taught at a number of schools and have been an administrator for the past five years most recently as an Assistant Principal at Rhodes Middle School.

My goal is to honor this community by ensuring that all Franklin students receive a high quality, enriching education that prepares them to be 21st Century Citizens.  I intend to accomplish that goal by providing our students with a rigorous curriculum that seeks to serve the whole child.  This includes the social emotional components of learning.  Part of this commitment includes the creation of a dual language program for Franklin students.  As global citizens it is crucial that our children are equipped with a variety of skills and second language acquisition is part of that formula.  Likewise, our teachers and staff are passionate about our students and we look forward to providing the best education possible for all who attend this school.  Additionally, I look forward to a deeper level of engagement on the campus by parents and we intend to do that by providing purposeful opportunities for that engagement to happen.

Thank you,
Hugo Saucedo Ed.D.
Principal, Franklin Elementary School

Hugo Saucedo Hola!

Hugo Saucedo Ed.D.
Director, Escuela Primaria Franklin
