Principal Information
Miriam Aguilar
My name is Miriam Aguilar, and it is an honor to serve as principal of M. L. King Academy. This is my 22nd year in education. I began my educational career in Laredo, Texas as a middle school ELAR teacher for 8 years, and then transitioned to assistant principal at the same school for two additional years before moving to San Antonio, Texas. I began my SAISD career at Lanier High School as an assistant principal, then moved back to the middle school setting as assistant principal at Poe Middle School for 2 years before becoming principal for an additional 2 years at this same campus. I then moved on to Highlands High School where I had been an assistant principal for 5 years before arriving with my panther family. My educational background includes a Bachelor of Arts in English, Bachelor of Arts in Reading, and a Masters of Education.
At the core of me, I can tell you that my passion is working with children to help them achieve their dreams and potentials. I look forward to meeting and getting to know each of the children. I can promise you that every decision made at our campus will be in the best interest of them. I want to make sure I provide a safe campus that is conducive to learning for everyone at M. L. King Academy.
My goal is to support the continuous learning and growth of our teachers, staff, parents and students. By doing so, each panther family member will experience success to their highest potential. I look forward to interacting with all stakeholders in our learning community and learning how I can best support everyone this year and for many more to come.
