Welcome back Lamar families!
We hope you had a wonderful, restful summer and that you’re ready for another great year.
Over the summer our staff has been busy planning and preparing for a great start to our year as we enter our second year as a choice school. We are thrilled to continue building around our five pillars: Curiosity, Collaboration, Cultural Competence, Emotional Intelligence, and Advocacy. Throughout the year students and families will have opportunities to interact with our five pillars and bring them to life.
As our campus continues to evolve and grow, we are excited to introduce new members to our community. We welcome new Associate Principal Roxanna Montes-Bazaldua to our campus. She comes to us with a breadth of experience from her years as a teacher, assistant principal, and district administrator at Alamo Heights ISD. Lauren Pum will serve as our new Senior Coordinator of Operations. She will facilitate our network activities at and between Lamar and Bowden Academy this year. We will also have a number of new teachers and staff join our team and we are excited for you to meet them in the coming days.
Along with new staff, our halls are filling up with families that are new to Lamar in addition to the families returning to our school this year. Our campus continues to diversify and evolve. Lamar is a special place for all students, in part due to the varied backgrounds of our families. Please read through our communication memo that outlines the ways in which you will receive information and how to get involved in campus happenings. One of our priorities this year is focus on providing clear, timely communication that is responsive to the needs of each member of our Lamar community.
Soon, our school will be busy with excited learning. As an educator, this is my favorite time of year, when we look ahead to the learning and experiences that we will share throughout the school year. Looking forward to seeing everyone soon!
