Our Program

A SOLID FOUNDATION

  • School assemblies at the end of each day will allow the principal to connect with students, foster a culture of brotherhood and provide lessons in character development.
  • Leadership skills will be woven into the curriculum and practiced throughout the day with the aim of shaping tomorrow’s thinkers and instilling in them the belief that they can make a difference in the world.
  • A vital ingredient to success is discipline - without it, even our best efforts can fall short. We will use the Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports system to teach this valuable trait.

A STRONG MIND

  • Project-based learning that requires students apply their knowledge to real-world problems, providing hands-on exploration and investigation
  • Accommodation of flexible learning styles, ample physical movement, increased use of visuals, competitive learning opportunities and other research-based instructional methods that appeal to boys
  • Pre-Advanced Placement and Advanced Placement courses in the 8th grade in preparation for graduation at the Distinguished Level of Achievement
  • Daily staff development and collaboration time for teachers in core subjects to ensure consistent delivery of quality, challenging instruction tailored to the male learner.

A PLACE TO GROW

  • Outside-the-box extracurriculars supported by artists-in-residence that could include karate, meditation or yoga as part of PE and guitar and choir through music classes.
  • An afterschool program that blends academic pursuits with enrichment opportunities.
  • A safe learning environment where boys have the time and space to be themselves without feeling competitive with or distracted by the opposite gender during crucial stages of adolescent development.

DUAL CREDIT

  • YMLA offers Dual Credit courses that transfer to University and College.
