It is with great pride and excitement that I introduce myself to you as the Principal of Carvajal Elementary School. I am honored to have the opportunity to lead this newly transitioned school from a Head Start Center to a STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math) Dual Language Elementary School Campus. I have been dedicated to the field of education for 32 years, all in SAISD. I would like to extend a warm welcome to the Rodriguez families, as they join the Carvajal family. I am excited and eager to bring my skills as an educational leader to Carvajal.
Along with the teachers and staff, I am committed to building strong relationships with parents, students and community partners. We will focus on delivering rigorous instruction, using project-based learning, data to drive instruction, and community partnerships. Our Dual Language Students will develop bilingualism, biculturalism, and biliteracy. Students will be gaining 21st Century skills to eventually take to the workplace.
All of us at Carvajal Elementary School are eager and excited to begin what promises to be an amazing year. We will provide academic experiences for our students that are rigorous, relevant, and help them build relationships while making real-world connections. As your Principal, it is important to me that everyone is excited to be here! This attitude enables us to meet the challenges of academic excellence in a positive, fun, and nurturing environment.
Our doors open at 7:30 a.m. and the learning begins promptly at 8:05 a.m. and the day ends at 3:20 p.m. Students will eat breakfast in the classroom every day. We will offer after school program as needed. The acceptable uniform colors are khaki or black pants, with a navy, royal or white polo type shirt. The following school year, we will transition to only navy and white shirts.
