My name is Dena Huestis and I teach 5^th grade math at Mission Academy. I grew up in Katy, Texas. I received my Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree at Stephen F. Austin State University in 1994.   I taught 2^nd and 3^rd grade for four years at Alief I.S.D. in Houston, Texas.    I moved to San Antonio in 1998 and taught 2^nd, 3^rd and 4^th grade at Foster Elementary for ten years.  I have been teaching 4^th and 5^th grade at Mission Academy since the school opened in 2008.   My husband is also a 5^th grade teacher and I have two daughters – one is 11 years old and the other is 15 years old.  My goal is for students to leave fifth grade feeling confident and successful in math.
