Welcome to Mariachi.  My name is John Nieto and I have been the mariachi director at Brackenridge since 1990.  The main goal of my class is to learn how to play music and have fun in the process.

The students will learn to read music and play instruments using fundamental techniques that are similar to band, orchestra or choir.  The only difference is the way we interpret music.  There are NO prerequisites to enroll in the beginner mariachi classes.  We provide the instruments, music and resources.  You provide the “ganas.”

I am the coauthor of Mariachi Philharmonic (Alfred music) and the author of Habits Of A Successful Beginner Mariachi Músico (GIA music).
