Overview

We work together for student success and to empower our students’ futures. We show our respect for one another by holding ourselves and others to high standards. At Tafolla, we provide students with a Dual Language program, AP Spanish, an advanced curriculum of high school courses in English, Math, and a variety of electives in art, drama, and music. We have an active Partner's program, outstanding musical opportunities, and award-winning athletics. Our extracurricular programs provide context and meaning for our academic lessons during the day.

About Tafolla Middle School

Welcome to Tafolla Middle School, home of the Raging Toros! Tafolla is nestled in between Lanier High School and the Natatorium on the west side of San Antonio, Texas. Tafolla Middle School was built in 1969 and named after Fidel L. Tafolla. Fidel L. Tafolla was once the principal of Lanier High School and an educational innovator in the San Antonio Independent School District. Tafolla Middle School students and staff recently had the opportunity to work with San Antonio's Inaugural Poet Laureate, Carmen Tafolla. Carmen Tafolla is the great niece to Fidel L. Tafolla. Tafolla Middle School is also proud of one of its most famous graduates, former Mayor Julian Castro. Julian Castro attended Tafolla Middle School in the 1980s and served as the Secretary of Housing and Urban Development under President Barack Obama.   

Tafolla is a multilingual magnet school that offers high school courses in English, Math, Science, as well as a variety of electives in art and music. Tafolla Middle School has an active AVID and Partner's program, a newly built STEM Lab, outstanding musical opportunities, as well as award winning athletics. Tafolla's faculty and staff is proud of its heritage and welcomes all students to our campus.
