School History
Herman Hirsch Elementary School opened its doors in 1960.
The school was named for a beloved educator named Herman Hirsch. Mr. Hirsch was born in Fredericksburg in 1870 and later moved to San Antonio, where he resided for 55 years. He worked for Crockett Elementary, first as an educator, and then as a principal for 31 years.
Mr. Hirsch was known for his hard work and dedication and for never missing a day of school. The school was built in his name, to serve the families of the Dellcrest neighborhood.
Our elementary students feed into Davis Middle School and Sam Houston High School.
