Meet Ms. Lucas

Hello!  This is my 5th year at Lamar Elementary, and I couldn't be more thrilled to work with such a thoughtful, caring community.

Growing up my family moved quite a bit, and I've lived in New Jersey, Houston, Illinois, and Minnesota.  My parents and brother still live in Minnesota.  I enjoy visiting them whenever I get the chance!   I graduated from Trinity University with a bachelors degree in economics, and I continued on to receive my Masters of Arts in Teaching.  This is my 16th year teaching (where did the time go??)!   Most of my teaching experience is in 4th grade, but I've also taught 3rd grade and kindergarten.  I love teaching all subjects, but encouraging students to fall in love with reading and writing is one of my favorite things about teaching.  I love books and matching books to readers!

When I'm not teaching, I love to swim, read, run, travel, and spend time with friends and family.  I am hoping to cross all 50 states off my list and I only have a few to go!  

I cannot wait to get to know my new students and their families!
