Master Teacher - English Language Arts and Reading

Christopher Green is a San Antonio native. He attended local public schools from 1st grade through graduation from Judson High School. At Texas State University, Green earned a B.A. in Journalism while minoring in Political Science. During his time as a Bobcat, he led the campus radio station KTSW 89.9 FM as program director and won a national radio award for Siren Sounds. Green joined Rhodes Middle School in 2017, accepting a position with San Antonio I.S.D. as part of the first cohort of Master Teachers. After teaching Writing, ELAR, and ESL for three years, he teaches 8th-grade U.S. History as the social studies department lead at Rhodes. Green's passion for the intersections of policy, history, civics, and education has led him to pursue several experiences inspired by his classroom teacher journey. He participated in the first Teach Plus Texas Policy Fellowship in 2017 and would continue as a Senior Policy Fellow until 2019. Green co-founded San Antonio R.I.S.E. (rising in solidarity for equity), a community organizing group working towards educational equity in our city. In December, Green will earn a graduate degree from Our Lady of the Lake University as part of a S.A.I.S.D. Reading-specialist cohort. He continues seeking new educational and professional adventures to unlearn, heal, and nurture personal assets to play a role in making the world a more just place for future generations.
