YMLA Grading Policy:

5th grade students shall be assessed on the following components to determine a student’s grades:

1. Assessment Performance Measures which may include, but are not limited to, exams, recitations, teacher-made tests, quizzes, interim assessments, projects, and other grade-level acceptable assessment measures.

2. Class Work and/or Homework Measures which may include, but are not limited to, projects, journals, research, class participation and other instructional activities related to the content area. Grades are to be based on curriculum-related criteria and will reflect academic achievement.

The following is SAISD grading scale:

100 - 90 = A

89 – 80 = B

79 – 75 = C

74 – 70 = D

69 – 0 = F

Missing and/or Late Work Policy 

Students are allowed to make-up assignments or test after any absence, regardless of the reason for the absence. Students who are suspended from school for disciplinary reasons are also entitled to make-up the work in accordance with the following procedures:

1. A student is allowed 2 instructional days for each day missed with a maximum of 6 days during which make-up work may be complete or to schedule a make-up assessment.

2. It will be the student and parent’s responsibility to ensure that work is completed in the allotted time frame and submitted for grading.

3. Make-up work completed and accurate will receive 70% as the maximum grade with deductions as necessary for incorrectness or incompleteness.
