Martin Alvarez is a current Math Teacher at Edison High School and the Department Chair as well.  Mr. Alvarez has over 17 years experience in SAISD, all at Edison High School.  He began his career during the 2001-2002 school year.  Mr. Alvarez has taught all subjects in math, ranging from Algebra I to Calculus.  Currently Mr. Alvarez is teaching AP Calculus for his sixth consecutive year, Algebra I for his fifth consecutive year, and coaches track and field at Edison High School. 

Mr. Alvarez graduated from Judson High School in San Antonio, TX and attended UT Austin for four years.  He graduated with a B.A in Mathemtaics from the UTeach program.  After about seven years teaching, Mr. Alvarez went back to school at The University of Texas at San Antonio.  After two years, Mr. Alvarez received his Masters in Mathematical Education from UTSA.  

Mr. Alvarez has the fundamental belief that every student has the potential to learn, and with the right guidance can accomplish anything with hard work.
