Overview

We believe students deserve and are entitled to every opportunity to leave with the essential knowledge and skills necessary to further their education. As the world changes and becomes more heavily reliant on technology as a means to an end, we feel that providing classrooms that bring together standard teachings, technology and real- world applications would best prepare them for the awaiting higher levels of education and future careers. We prepare our students for a world that embraces technology in a multitude of ways.

Rhodes Middle School - A Technology & Media Internal Charter School

As a technology and media internal charter school, Rhodes Middle School strives to improve and strengthen the academic performance of each one of our students by incorporating technology throughout our curriculum and across disciplines.

As an internal charter school specializing in the area of technology, our goal is to have technology at the foundation of our teachings, but also to prepare our students for an awaiting world that embraces technology in a multitude of ways.

School History

Opened in the fall of 1954 as Rhodes Junior High School at its present location. Named after the former SAISD superintendent (1920-1925), who is best remembered for the junior school system he implemented in San Antonio Rhodes became a middle school in the mid 1970s.

Rhodes Middle School opened in 1954 at a time when Tampico Street was still an unpaved road. After much hard work and determination, Rhodes became a Technology Magnet School in 1999 and a Technology Charter School in 2010. Now known as Rhodes Technology and Media Internal Charter, students use technology each day in their lessons and classrooms. Rhodes is a great place to be and we look forward to working with you and your child.

Jeremiah Rhodes was THE originator of the junior high school system in Texas. He moved to Texas in 1920 and served as superintendent of the San Antonio schools from 1920 to 1925. Rhodes pushed successfully for a bond issue in 1922 because San Antonio schools were extremely crowded. In 1933 he became the head of the junior high schools division of the Texas State Department of Education. We are proud to have our campus named after Jeremiah Rhodes.
