Welcome students and parents! My name is Miss Emalie Humphreys. This is my 8th year teaching in SAISD, and my 5th year as a mathematics teacher and a coach at Edison High School. I'm SO excited to be working with my students this year!
Here's a little about myself: I am a cum laude graduate of Texas A&M University in College Station, where I received a Bachelors of Science in education and competed on the three-time National Champions womens' track and field team. I have one younger brother (I don't say little because he is 6' 8" tall), who is looking to get a career in law enforcement soon! My favorite color is green; I love to read, write, and draw; and my favorite animals in the WHOLE WORLD are SHARKS!
I have always been passionate about mathematics and educating students in the discipline, especially coming from an athletics background. My goal is to eliminate the statement, "I can't do math," from the world, because I truly believe that everyone who "can't do" math just never had someone persistent enough to get through to them. This year, I will be teaching Algebra 2, PreAP Geometry, and a dual-enrollment College Algebra course in partnership with the University of Texas at Austin. I am also the junior varsity girls' basketball coach and an assistant coach for the girls track team in charge of the throwing events. I am committed to helping my students succeed and excited to get started!
