Principal Information
Dr. Rick Flores
Dr. Rick Flores is the newly appointed principal at Sidney Lanier High School. Flores is excited to launch his 28 years of service to public education in the learning community that meant so much to him as an alumnus of San Antonio ISD. Flores is elated to begin his 23rd year of service in our school district. As a young man, Flores lived in San Juan Homes (public housing) where he attended Storm Elementary, Lowell Middle School, and graduated from Burbank High School.
Dr. Flores is a first-generation college graduate who truly understands the struggles that come with being the first to attend college and looks forward to supporting our Lanier VOKS to dream big. In 1995, Flores earned concurrent Bachelor of Arts degrees in sociology and music education from Texas Lutheran University. In 2001, he earned a master's degree in educational leadership from Schreiner University in Kerrville, Texas. In 2016, he earned his superintendent certification at Texas A&M University-San Antonio, and in 2022, Flores earned his doctoral degree Educational Leadership from Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas.
Dr. Flores has been married for twenty-three years and considers himself blessed beyond measure with four amazing children. He considers it a blessing and privilege to serve in the ZIP code he once called home. Dr. Flores is committed to working in partnership with our Lanier High School learning community to ensure that all students are afforded every opportunity to experience social and academic success while under our care. At Lanier High School, we are committed to building the type of school that we would all want for our very own children. At Lanier High School, "Si Se Puede!"
