  • This year the China classroom celebrated the Chinese New Year. The class performed a dragon dance for the other classrooms and passed out red envelopes with good luck Chinese coins. The class also conducted a taste and read different books about China, Chinese culture, and listened to traditional Chinese music.

Laura ChristenberryWelcome to Steele Montessori Academy!
We are so excited to be the first and only public Montessori school in the San Antonio area.  We opened in the fall of 2017 and currently serve students ages 3-6.  Montessori is a different choice in education and differs from the traditional school setting.  Students move about the classroom that has been especially prepared for them.  This gives them freedom within limits which builds their confidence for independence.  We have multi-age classrooms with three ages in a classroom which helps build leadership skills and gives students more time with the same teacher.  After three years, the students advance to the next level.  Our teachers spend a lot of time connecting with the families and learning about the whole child.  While we have very high academic expectations of our students, we also spend a great amount of time teaching students about social and emotional health and how to belong in a community.

Our first cohort of students excitedly entered this year and we could not be more excited with all that they are learning.  We look forward to developing these children into the caring adults who are going to change the world!

Sincerely,
Laura Christenberry
Principal at Steele Montessori Academy
