Dr. Penny Pruitt
Principal
Dr. Penny Pruitt is honored to serve as the principal at Highlands High School. She is beginning her 30th year in education and her 17th year in administration. She began her teaching career in Farmington, New Mexico, before moving to Texas. She taught Government, Economics, AP/Dual Credit U.S. History, World Geography, and English before moving into administration. She loves being at Highlands High School, the pride of the Southeast Side, and every day she looks forward to coming to work and guiding the campus toward an upward trend of academic growth. She believes that all students deserve the opportunity to have access to rigorous courses that prepare students for post-secondary life. This, she believes, is the key to success. To achieve sound academic growth, Dr. Pruitt believes that building relationships with all students and their families is essential.
